Torreya is a genus of conifers with extremely large “nuts”, which are edible. The nut is approximately the size of a brazil nut, and has a taste that varies from pine nut to shredded coconut. These seedlings were grown from NZ sourced seed, and should be able to survive in most locations in New Zealand. Torreya generally require well-draining soil.
